MMR

As you may be aware, there has been an increase in the number of measles cases in the UK with some serious outbreaks. Measles is a serious, highly contagious and sometimes dangerous disease.

MMR vaccine provides safe and effective protection against measles, mumps and rubella. Because of the high risk of further outbreaks of measles across the country, we strongly recommend that patients under 24, or parents of those under 16, who have not received a complete course of MMR vaccine (two doses) contact the surgery to make a routine appointment with the Practice Nurse for this.

Please note that Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) should not be given to women who could be pregnant. There is more information on measles and the MMR immunisation on the NHS Choices website: http://www.nhs.uk/Pages/HomePage.aspx
